A Message from the Executive Director

Hello and welcome to Denver 911.  I hope that you find the information on our website interesting and helpful. The website content was developed in collaboration with our employees, supervisors and the management of Denver 911.

There is a renaissance happening in the Center - the Denver Police Department leadership is transitioning to civilian management, breaking with literally decades of tradition.  The Police Sergeants and Lieutenants are being re-deployed to fill vacant positions in Patrol, Investigations and the Identification Bureau, where their training, expertise and skills as trained police officers can be better utilized.

Working in collaboration with the Denver Police Department, we have selected the civilian successors to these management positions and have placed some of the most experienced, talented and competent 911 professionals in leadership roles, each of whom have worked in the 911 industry for years.  There is definitely a new and vibrant energy in the Center.

Our employees are stepping up to take on new responsibilities and leadership roles in the Center and I'm excited by the results we have already experienced.  It is only by working together that we can bring premier service to the citizens of the City and County of Denver.

My personal measure of success is that the citizens and customers of Denver 911 are served quickly, efficiently, courteously and with the utmost respect.  I welcome any comments about your experience and can be reached at 720.913.2025, carl.simpson@ci.denver.co.us or by clicking this LINK to take you to our feedback form.

Thank you for visiting the Denver 911 home page.

Carl Simpson

Executive Director, Denver 911

 Denver 911 - A Short History

The City & County of Denver began “Enhanced 911 or E911” service to its citizenry in 1989. Denver 911, formerly housed fire dispatch, alarm headquarters and transmitter (radio) personnel.  Paramedic and Police Dispatch relocated to the building and began operating in the Center December 20, 1992.

The building now houses Denver 911 Operators and Dispatchers, Denver Fire Dispatchers and Denver Health Paramedic Dispatchers. All 911 calls placed within the Denver City and County geographical boundaries are received and then screened to determine if the caller has a police, fire, or medical emergency.  The call is then either immediately transferred to Fire or Paramedic Dispatchers or handled by 911 Operators for Police dispatching.
