 2008 Building Code and Amendments Minimize
The newly adopted Denver Building Code and all of its provisions and policies became effective on August 4, 2008.

 

The option of the use of the 2004 Denver Building Code or the new Code was allowed for any projects that were to be submitted to Denver Community Planning and Development before the effective date of this Code, August 4, 2008. 
 

Major projects in the design stage during the drafting of the new Code that will be submitted to  Denver Community Planning and Development after the effective date of this Code may be reviewed under the 2004 Denver Building Code, provided that the owner or the owner's agent submitted a letter of commitment stating:

1. Election to proceed under the 2004 Denver Building Code or this Code;

2. Address of the construction project;

3. Description, number of stories, floor area, occupancy, etc., of the building;

4. Date of beginning design drawings;

5. Date of submitting construction drawings to Denver Community Planning and Development.

6. That the construction of the project will start within 6 months and be completed within 24 months of the effective date of this Code if the option is to use the 2004 Denver Building Code.

 
The letter of commitment must have been submitted by the effective date of this Code.
 

“Type approved” structures approved by the Agency prior to the effective date of the new Code are valid for permitting until 6 months after the effective date of the new Code.
