Debit Card
Discovery Benefits, the City’s flexible spending account administrator, recently implemented changes to its debit card policies as required by revised federal guidelines.

The most significant change is that merchants must be registered to participate in the debit card program.  Employees may only use their debit cards at these registered merchants - if a merchant is not registered, you can file the claim online or through the mail.  Medical and dentists office are not required to register until 01/01/09, so Discovery will request receipts for any debit card purchases at such offices that do NOT match the city’s pre-negotiated co-pay amounts.

In addition, Discovery is implementing a new form for dependent care claims in 2008. A separate email will be sent to participants with this information or visit www.discoverybenefits.com.

If you have additional questions, please contact Discovery Benefits at (866) 451- 3399 or your CSA Benefits Team at (720) 913-5697.

“Our differences are the key to the strength of our city.”

At the City and County of Denver, we acknowledge, celebrate, respect and value the diversity of our community and our workforce.

The recent media exposure and the subsequent positive and constructive feedback we’ve received from employees show us that we have clearly struck a nerve. We want to use this revived attention and passion from our employees to open dialogue with the result being the best end product possible. We will suspend the use of the video until we can facilitate this collaboration at an upcoming summit.

The intention of the “Laughing Matters” video as part of our overall training program is to enhance awareness of inappropriate humor in the workplace, not to stereotype or perpetuate stereotypes of any individual or group.

We appreciate the tremendous work done by the Diversity Program and continue to support their efforts to create the best possible working environment for employees.
