Time is running out, last day to apply for LEAP April 30, 2008
Denver, Colo.—The last day to apply for the Low-income Energy Assistance Program (LE
AP) for the 2007-2008 season is
April 30, 2008. LE
AP helps people who qualify pay home heating costs and during heating related emergencies.
Those who qualify for LEAP receive an average of $448 that goes directly towards paying home heating costs.
“I’d encourage anyone needing heating assistance to apply for help,” says Denver LEAP Program Administrator Enrique Hernandez. “The program is here to help people struggling to pay their heating bill and those impacted by financial hardship.”
People may be eligible for assistance if they are a legal resident of Colorado, pay heating costs to an energy provider or pay heat as part of rent, and meet gross monthly income guidelines, which equals $3,184 for a household of four.
Applicants can call 1-866-HEAT-HELP or visit a local county human services office to request an application. Denver residents can apply at Denver Human Services East office at 2855 Tremont St., Denver, CO, 80205.
Applications must be received by April 30, 2008 to be considered for eligibility for the 2007-2008 season.
