DIA Sets Another Record

DIA had its busiest month ever in August, making it the 20th month in a row it set a  monthly record for passenger traffic.  But it was the smallest monthly increase since April and traffic is expected to decline now that airlines are cutting capacity to deal with higher fuel costs.

DialogCity Presents

Dialog:City an official public program of the Denver 2008 Convention Host Committee organized by the Denver Office of Cultural Affairs, presents a public lecture by participating artist D.J. Spooky (a.k.a Paul Miller).  The lecture is Monday, May 5th at Davis Auditorium on the University of Denver campus.  Location and parking maps are available at www.du.edu/maps.

D.J. Spooky’s lecture will take cue from his award-winning Rhythm Science collection of essays (MIT Press, 2004), which explore the hidden connections between collage-based aesthetics and what D.J. Spooky likes to call the “politics of perception.”  His lectures unpack some of the issues facing modern artists: intellectual property, ownership of ideas, and above all, how art navigates the complex culture of digital media.

Inspired by the occasion of the Democratic National Convention, Dialog:City will leverage contemporary art and design to catalyze civic engagement in neighborhoods throughout Denver.  It will consist of ten site-specific public art exhibits August 21st – 29th.   World-class artists will come together in this rare occurrence to create a series of innovative commissioned works.

Dialog:City is open to the public.  While exhibits will be concurrent, each will have a dedicated opening enabling the public to attend every event.  Dialog:City is the first event of its kind at a party convention.
