City Starts Planning for Aging Boom
Mayor John Hickenlooper has announced the creation of a task force to identify strategies to help Denver prepare for the anticipated “age wave” of rapidly aging baby boomers. Wants to ensure services and keep aging population engaged.

 
 

DIA Sets Another Record

DIA had its busiest month ever in August, making it the 20th month in a row it set a  monthly record for passenger traffic.  But it was the smallest monthly increase since April and traffic is expected to decline now that airlines are cutting capacity to deal with higher fuel costs.

Volunteers Needed for Tax Preparation Sites in Denver
You Can Help Lift Denver's Hard-Working Low-Income Families Out of Poverty
 
The City and County of Denver is calling for volunteers, on behalf of the Denver Asset Building Coalition (DABC), to help hard-working low-income families with their tax return preparation. This assistance can help them get tax refunds and is one effort that can help lift Denver's low-income families out of poverty.
Public Art Tours
Denver's Office of Cultural Affairs introduces free, one-hour tours
 
Guided tours will give citizens and visitors the opportunity to venture inside venues such as the Ellie Caulkins Opera House and Colorado Convention Center to view works and hear the intimate details of their creation and installation. While much of the City’s collection is out in plain view to see and experience every day, some incredible pieces are housed indoors.
