Top Headlines Saturday, October 11, 2008 | 42 ° Overcast   NEW MAPPING SITES CRIME IN CITY New System Shows Where and When Crime Occurs   The Denver Police Department and Denver Geographic Information Systems has jointly launched the new application.  Denver residents are now able to search up-to-date crime data and generate maps and tables of crime around their homes, schools, and other locations of interest.    The database will enable users to search by specific address, park, school, library, or neighborhood. Information is updated daily as new crimes are reported and investigations yield new information.     MAYOR HICKENLOOPER NAMES DENVER FIRE CHIEF Department Veteran Appointed Nick Nuanes, a 34-year veteran of the Denver Fire Department, is currently Division Chief of Denver International Airport (DIA) for the Department. He succeeds Chief Larry Trujillo, who retired Sept. 1. "Nick Nuanes is a career professional. He began as a line firefighter and worked his way through the ranks of the Denver Fire Department," Hickenlooper said. "He is a highly qualified leader and manager who has earned the respect of the Denver community and the men and women of the Department. Throughout his career, he has demonstrated an enduring commitment to officer training and development, community collaboration and fiscal responsibility.
