Learn all about composting and recycling in Denver while giving something back to your community. You’ll have tons of fun, and you’re guaranteed to meet others who are committed to the environment and to their communities.
No experience required!
The 2008 Master Composter Training and Outreach Program class selection is completed. Please check back in November for the 2009 class.
Here’s how the program works:
- Receive 40 hours of instruction in compost science, bin construction, worm composting, recycling and solid waste management, urban gardening and community outreach. Serious stuff, but we make it fun!
- In exchange for your training you’ll be required to return 40 hours of community service teaching composting and recycling to Denver residents. You’ll have a year to complete your community service requirement.
- You need not be an experienced composter or gardener to participate, but you must be able to commit the time necessary to attend the classes, tours and demonstration site sessions.
- A materials fee is requested but not required.
- Classes will be held about once a week for 10 weeks on a combination of Monday evenings, Saturday mornings and one Thursday field trip. (2008 Class Schedule)
- Approximately 30 enthusiastic and committed participants will be selected.
To apply or express interest call Denver Urban Gardens at 303-292-9900 or send us an e-mail at DenverRecycles@ci.denver.co.us. Applicants will be invited to a short interview in January or February to learn more about the program.
