The Civil Division office hours are 8:00 A.M. to 4:30 P.M. Monday through Friday. The office is closed on weekends and all legal holidays. All fees must be paid in advance.

CIVIL PROCESS FEES
The mission of the Denver Sheriff Department Civil Division is to provide quality customer service in the processing and execution of civil process. The duties of the Civil Division are widely varied. They include, but are not limited to:
1. Service of civil process
2. Sale of real and personal property under court order
3. Execution of court ordered evictions.
The Civil Division staff consists of 12 Officers, 2 Sergeants, and 4 civilian clerical staff. Although this office is prohibited from giving legal advice, the Civil Division strives to provide all possible assistance within those constraints.
Information regarding whom is to be served and where they may be located will be provided by the person requesting service. Any additional information provided is helpful. Examples of additional information: age, place of employment, best time to serve, vehicle description, and physical description. This information should be provided on a DSD Information Form.

CIVIL PROCESS INFORMATION FORM
Items Required For Service
ITEMS PROVIDED BY YOU:
1. A completed CIVIL PROCESS INFORMATION FORM. You may obtain this form by clicking on the link.
2. Two court certified copies of the papers you would like served.
3. Pre-payment of fees is required. Payment can be made by check or money order payable to The Denver Sheriff Department.
4. Check amount owed on the Fees List page.
WE WILL PROVIDE YOU WITH:
1. A Return of Service. This will notify you if the service was successful and will
serve as proof of service to the court.
2. The Return of Service will tell you the name of the person served, the date and time of service and the address where service occurred.
3. If the service was unsuccessful the Return of Service will provide an explanation such as: moved, no such address, address not in Denver, etc.
4. If the service was unsuccessful you may be due a partial refund. You will receive the refund approximately 4 to 6 weeks after you receive the Return of Service. This refund is mailed directly from the Auditor’s Office.
