Community Planning and Development Geographic Information Systems (GIS), Mapping, and Analysis
There is a strong need for GIS in the field of planning. Maps and spatial analysis are crucial when evaluating the existing conditions of the natural and built environment in order to plan for the future. The Community Planning and Development Department has two GIS Analysts serving as internal support. Services range from the generation of maps as requested by city planners and inspectors, the creation and maintenance of CPD citywide GIS layers, and spatial analysis and data generation. Maps can be used in small area and citywide plans, rezoning discussions, public meetings, and for information about planning services. **Please note: CPD GIS does not distribute spatial data or create custom maps for the general public. **
Citywide GIS
The citywide GIS department, known as DenverGIS, provides digital data and existing hardcopy and customized maps as requested by the general public. For information on downloading GIS data, or to discuss public mapping services please visit the DenverGIS website. http://www.denvergov.org/GIS/
DenverGIS also maintains an interactive online mapping service called DenverMaps, where information and reports can be searched and generated based on spatial location. http://www.denvergov.org/denvermaps/
